London has an incredible number of second-hand record shops. At the
last count there were more than 200 spread around the city, mostly
general, but also a wide range of specialists. It takes insider knowledge
to be able to navigate your way around them and find that long
sought-after record or CD.
Here's where we come in. You tell us what you want and we'll try to find
it for you. Most things can be found eventually, but please don't ask for
ultra-rare records, such as 'God Save the Queen' on EMI or a first
pressing, gold/black Parlophone 'Please Please Me'! A
All you do is send your wants list. Simply send an e-mail message to
geoffw@connectfree.co.uk. Make sure that you include any special
information about your requirements, including the following:
- special releases - picture sleeves, picture discs, shaped discs, gate-fold
sleeves, unusual packaging, extras, etc.
- the minimum condition which you will accept (M, E, VG, G, F, X) for
both record and sleeve; see the grading page, if you're unusure how to do
this. It is not necessary to state the condition of compact discs.
- the maximum price you're willing to pay, preferably in pounds sterling (but
US dollars, Irish punts and French francs are also acceptable); don't
forget to take account of postage and packaging (see below for details).
Where's the catch? Well, obviously, searching takes time and costs
money. All we ask is that you pay a commission fee of 25% of the item's
cost, although there is a minimum finding fee of one pound sterling per
item. In most cases, the fee will be in the range of one to three pounds.
Our guarantee is that we'll refund all your money (including the
commission), if you're dissatisfied for any reason.
We'll carry on searching until you tell us not to. So, please, let us know,
if you find the item elsewhere.
We're buying all the time and you'll find a selection of recently found
stock on other pages. You can check these out now. Please see the
ordering page for details of how to buy anything listed in these pages.
Alternatively, you can send an e-mail requesting one of the following lists:
1950s/1960s; indie; Irish (rock & indie); jazz; pop and rock; punk/new
wave; roots; cds (all genres). Lists are in *.txt format so there's no risk of
viruses.
Check out my auctions too at http://www.ebay.com - just search for
londonrecordfinder (one word).
